WHO WE ARE

WIMA (Worldwide Industrial & Marine Association) is a non-profit initiative that was born in 2006. It was created with the aim of establishing and promoting an innovative network of certified maritime companies with global service capabilities, successfully covering every sector of shipping.
WIMA member companies are mainly active in the following sectors:

Ilias Chatziephraimidis
Following his graduation, he joined the family-owned business, HAJIEFREMIDIS S.A., which was founded in 1959 by his father, Apostolos, and remains one of the oldest and most respected shipping agencies in Piraeus.
Beginning his professional career as Head of Operations, Ilias gradually acquired the necessary experience to successfully undertake the role of General Manager, a position he continues to hold to this day.

George Papamanolis
George Papamanolis-Dozas was born in 1969 and studied Accounting and Business Administration & Management. He holds an Executive MBA from ALBA Graduate Business School at The American College of Greece, as well as certifications in Internal Quality Auditing and the LRQA ISO 9000 Series Appreciation & Interpretation Course from Lloyd’s Register.
Since 2000, he has served as the CEO of ELVIK S.A., a company active since 1982 in the production of non-combustible materials for ship accommodation spaces (Panels, Doors, B-15 Ceilings).
He speaks English and French and has participated in seminars covering finance, welding, ISO standards, sales, and export procedures.
He is the General Secretary of the Association of Western Attica Enterprises and has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the Piraeus Chamber of Small and Medium-Sized Industries (BEΠ) since 2011, having also served as 2nd Vice President from 2018 until his appointment as President.

Ioannis Kordatos
He has held executive positions in both Greek and international companies. Since 2011, he has founded and managed the Hellenic Welding Institute and HENC, which provide certified training and education services in welding and materials science, as well as consulting services in total quality management and production process optimization.
His companies are active in the maritime sector as well as in the wider industry.

Spyros Goumas
Mr. Spyros Goumas is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of SQLearn S.A. He has extensive experience in the implementation and management of projects in the fields of education and e-learning, with a focus on educational and strategic planning, organization of learning processes, monitoring and evaluation of training programs, and the integration of new educational methods and technologies into teaching practices.
He has led research and consulting projects focused on the application and impact of e-learning in modern education.
Mr. Goumas is an active member of several key organizations in the education sector, including the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Network for Open and Distance Education, and serves as the coordinator of the e-Business Forum working group on the effectiveness and ROI of distance e-learning.
He is also a member of the Foresight Committee of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), the Hellenic Adult Education Association, the Hellenic Mathematical Society, and other relevant professional associations.
VASILIOS CHRYSOPOULOS
SOFOKLIS KOKKINIS
Mr. Sofoklis Kokkinis studied in the Business Organization and Administration branch with post graduate studies in Engineering Business Management.
He was involved in the family business P.Kokkinis LTD, in the position of Technical Director, which was founded in 1979 in Piraeus, with the main object of piping works in ships and factories (construction-reffiting-repairing), by his father Mr. Panagiotis Kokkinis.Now for the last 5 years he holds the position of President of P. Kokkinis SMC LTD

George Lygeros
He was born in 1975, in Attica. He began his career at the family business “PSYKTOTHERM” as a refrigeration technician, focusing on the repair and maintenance of refrigeration and air-conditioning units on board ships. In 2000, he assumed an entrepreneurial role as General Manager of “PSYKTOTHERM”, expanding the company’s activities into industrial refrigeration and air conditioning, the manufacturing of cooling components, and the trade of refrigeration equipment and spare parts. He became actively involved in the company’s R&D department, contributing with proposals focused on innovation development, strengthening extroversion, forming strategic partnerships, and enhancing competitiveness. He serves as President of the Manufacturing Sector of the Piraeus Chamber of Small and Medium-Sized Industries (BEΠ), Deputy Secretary General of the WIMA association, and is a member of the Hellenic Marine Equipment Manufacturers and Exporters (HEMEXPO).

The WIMA Board of Directors consists of 7 members who are elected every three years at the Annual General Meeting.
The responsibilities of the Board of Directors, among others, are the following:
– Approval of new member applications
– Ensuring the high level of benefits represented by the Union and its members.
– Decisions regarding the organization or participation of the Union in exhibitions, conferences, seminars, B2B and other events, in Greece and abroad.
– The creation and maintenance of valuable relationships with governmental and non-governmental bodies, such as Chambers of Commerce, Embassies/Consulates, organizations related to the shipping industry, as well as shipping associations, around the world.
– Daily supervision of the Union’s work to ensure its smooth operation.
